So, I have a sweet friend that is moving back to the midwest. She and her hubby have purchased their dream home on a golf course and I’m helping her long distance with some of her decor decisions. I sent her these pics via text today and couldn’t resist posting them here for you as my first style decor post.

Well the tag line of SOTR is the Intersection of Politics and Style, isn’t it? Enjoy!

This room is seriously fabulous. I love the enormous crown moulding, tall ceilings and windows coupled with a modern table, Chesterfield love seat and regency chairs.

This room is moody and elegant. A definite win for those that love leather, and animal prints.

I just love this powder room! Lacquered walls and an antique sink that cost the owner a seriously pretty penny.

What a fantastic kitchen. It feels modern, classic and city, yet I could see it in a nice West County home as well.

Look at the warmth of this room! It’s tiny and everyone knows how much I hate purple; yet it works here. I would have each purple piece done in hunter green instead, but that’s just me.

This is so pretty. A totally modernized take on a vintage set of chairs and china cabinet. The white furniture and upholstery perfectly balances the fantastic black walls. Notice the graduated molding on the ceiling!

The casework here is stunning. Big thick chunky moldings are always a show stopper, but pairing them with black walls takes the whole look to another level.

This is so comfy as a homework area. Forget a breakfast room when you have a bookcase like that!! Coffee and decor mags while the kiddos handle their homework.

Isn’t this divine? I love the chairs, black embossed wallpaper, and the boxwood balls as centerpieces. Chic.

For the men out there: a serious theater/media room. Can you imagine watching The Avengers in here? I can.

Now this is how you mix modern and antique pieces to achieve an eclectic, well collected look that is welcoming as well. I love plates on walls. I have them on every wall in my main level.

I’m cross posting these pics to my Pinterest account, so followers over there can enjoy them too.
