The Weekly Thomas Sowell

There’s just never enough Thomas Sowell. Is there?

“Socialism is a wonderful idea. It is only as a reality that it has been disastrous. Among people of every race, color, and creed, all around the world, socialism has led to hunger in countries that used to have surplus food to export…. Nevertheless, for many of those who deal primarily in ideas, socialism remains an attractive idea — in fact, seductive. Its every failure is explained away as due to the inadequacies of particular leaders. ”

  1. I’ve been reading Commentary by Thomas Sowell for many years. He is simply amazing and he is several years older than I am, and he keeps going like the Energizer bunny.

  2. He has hit the nail on the head! If we had more good politicians that did their jobs and truly cared about the United States, it’s citizens and their rights, they would not have to worry about getting elected or re-elected and certainly would not need to spend millions upon millions of dollars to do so. Most of that money they spend to get elected or re-elected comes from third parties that certainly do not have this countries best interest at heart. I think there should be a cap on the amount any contributor could provide these criminals to run for office and especially with all the dirty money they use to get elected. Firstly, it should be illegal for corporations and unions to contribute a dime. Campaign money should only come from their own pockets or from individual contributions not to exceed say $100 per citizen. If they had to use their money for their campaigns we would eventually not see so many of the criminals and traitors running for public office. It would make it easier for a poorer but true hearted man or woman that does have this countries best interest at heart to stand an equal chance in the elections. We would no longer see the type that are in it to line their pockets or some special interest groups pockets with tax payer dollars after they win. A good man or woman does not need to spend allot of money to win an election if they all have equal televised, radio broadcasts and equal print in newspapers or on the internet throughout their campaigns, we would have a much better class of politicians. When the media is bought and paid for by these criminals running this country and their contributors with only self interests getting them elected, does not allow the word to get out about those running for office that we truly need running our blessed nation.

  3. I, too, have been reading Sowell for many years. His common sense, wisdom, and eloquence is just beyond anyone else I know. I love him…and yes, Stacey, I can’t get enough of him either!
