Another blow to social experimentation in the military

Full disclosure: I’m a fourth generation military veteran and I’ve never supported women in combat.

The Marine Corps is reporting that they are delaying the requirement that female recruits perform 3 pull ups to pass the physical fitness testing requirements to be eligible for combat deployments.

But 55 percent of female recruits could not complete all three pullups, compared to just 1 percent of male recruits who could not, so the requirement was delayed. The Marine Corps made the announcement without fanfare on Twitter and its TV show, the Corps Report. Currently, female Marines only have to hold their chin above a pullup bar for 15 seconds.

This suggests a need by the Marine Corps to hide the fact that equality in combat may not be possible, though some female Marines are able to pass the test. So far 13 have done so.

Tell me again how any Marine wants a woman in combat with him if she can’t carry her own Ruck sack, much less carry him if he’s injured?

Tell me again how this distracted Marine, focused on protecting this weaker female Marine instead of focusing on completing the mission, doesn’t detrimentally impact his ability to perform the mission?

Tell me again what the military is for? Social experimentation or KILLING the ENEMY?

Some of the other boys who ranked higher in rotc have just been told AF doesn’t want them and they don’t need to repay their scholarships. All part of cutbacks. But they had genl degress not engineering like mine,

You are absolutely right, Stacy; as State Senator Brian Nieves says; war is about killing the enemy, breaking things, and going home. That brings up another subject, when have we done that, and why haven’t we won a war since WW 11? As long as that evil money pit on the East River exists, we will never win another war.

Stacy, that is unbelievable. This kind of thing started years ago. When I was stationed at Ft. Sill the county sheriff’s department required a person to push a police care for designated distance on a level surface with the car being out of gear and the brakes off. A woman wanting on the police force could not perform the action. She sued and a judge ruled that the police department had to allow who to put on the uniform. I was a drill sergeant for two years and there was a difference in the PT test standard for females and males (as you probably know) but it was fair because it followed the differences in the female and male body. I remember also when it was a requirement for an MP to be at least 5′ 8″ but years later they did away with that requirement when the WAC was done away with and women were integrated into the regular Army.

BTW, I was in the US Army from 1962-1965 and then finished my 20 by serving from 1973-1990. I retired as an SFC.
