This is how American citizens are treated.
An eighth-grade student in West Virginia was reportedly arrested and suspended last week after getting into an argument with his teacher about a National Rifle Association T-shirt he wore to school.
WOWK-TV reports that Jared Marcum faces charges of obstruction and disturbing the education process for refusing to change the shirt, which shows a rifle and the slogan, “protect your right.”
Jared told the station the he was punished by officials at Logan Middle School after arguing about the shirt with his teacher, who reportedly objected to the image of the gun on the shirt.
Somehow I suspect if he wore a pro gun control shirt they would not have suspended him. Such liberal hypocrisy in our schools is downright criminal.
I guess she was afraid the gun on his shirt would start firing at her. I’d be scared if I were her, too! 😉
This is freedom of speech’s worst nightmare. And arrested too, really?
As a veteran educator, including many years of teaching Am. Hist, Constitution & Gov. classes, many of the current PC rules not only stifle classroom interaction, but they demonstrate to the students’ ,quite clearly, their elders’ hypocrisy. If we want to graduate competent engaged citizens to further the Country’s foundations and extend the People’s Liberties, it would be helpful to not only teach the students about our history & Constitutional principals and the intended spirit under laying those cornerstones, but to also practice and respect those institutions. Otherwise, we risk turning loose into society hoards of ‘citizens’ whose belief system is skewed toward the baser human qualities; an effect already observable and growing. Getting the Fed. Gov. out of education and allowing state & local management would be very efficient beginning of the reform and restoration of American Ed. Best wishes.
I looked into this story since it didn’t seem right. Actually it is worse than what you wrote. His shirt doesn’t defy any dress code yet he gets arrested. How has the idea of education devolved to such a degree that it is now just a means for progressive indoctrination?
