Stacy, I’d like to suggest a different tactic in the conversation. I’d argue that the largest problem facing the US is the destruction of the traditional, married, nuclear family. Poverty, income inequality and all social pathologies correlate strongly with the destruction of the institution of traditional marriage. You can either care about sexual liberty or social justice, but not both. To me, that’s the way to frame the argument.

When one asks, “How is gay marriage going to hurt hetero marriages?” it places primacy on gay marriage as if that’s the biggest issue we face. Instead, the question ought to be, “How is removing marriage from procreation going to stop the decline in traditional families?” or something like that.

I’m sure one can come up with all kinds of ways gay couples don’t get this or that advantage because they can’t marry, but you’d have to be a total idiot to equate those inconveniences with the human destruction you see in places like Oakland or Highland Park, MI where the traditional family has been obliterated.

So that’s my suggestion for laying out the decision. Are you for sexual freedom or do you care about the less fortunate? You can’t do both.

when we are persecuted, our faith is tested, it can grow stronger with God, or it will dwindle without God…being tested, I rejoice that I have a chance to stand blameless…attack us!, we are defended by a roaring Lion, and when He comes, there will be justice in the lands…Ephesians 5:3–But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness qmust not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Ephesians 6:12 –For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6: 13 –Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. and Ephesians 6: 18-20 –To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. Thank you Stacy, stay bold in your Faith!!!!
