Time to cut the cord.

Seriously. I’ve covered this here before. We should cut off our cable, dish, etc. until they allow us to buy channels ala carte. This would mean that content providers would be held accountable to their true customers.

Imagine that! We wouldn’t be forced to subsidize MTV, LOGOS, MSNBC… If you wanted 10 channels, or 600 YOU would decide.

Of course the Liberals would hate this… But I’m so over the tiresome chorus telling us: “It would be SO hard to get new channels and stuff!”

It very well might! It would also be terribly difficult to get awful shows approved because the advertisers and TV buyers would be lithe to put on a show that would wreck a line up and cause a mass exodus from a channel.

This idea isn’t new, many pro family groups have suggested it to no avail. I mean, why would we ever want to clean up TV programming? That would benefit families and kids especially, so no never that.

We are starting the new year off by canceling Uverse. Join us.

My husband and I haven’t had cable since we were married which is over 8 years now. We get all of our television ala carte through Netflix, Amazon, and Youtube. We’re very happy with it and we also have more control over what the children watch as well. No sketchy commercials advertising unwholesome things or products we have no intention of buying. There’s a real freedom in personally selecting what you’re being exposed to.

It all sounds good but my bet is that the cable services with help from the networks will charge a higher price in order to make up for stations that people dont want. The cost of cable will be even higher for us all, is there really a solution to this problem?

If that were to happen HBO would have a big problem. Many of my friends, myself included, do not even watch HBO anymore. One of the reasons I do not watch HBO because of trash like Bill Maher and Sarah Silverman, among others.
